Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland
Although I now live in Hawaii, I found out I am being sued for a bad debt. I contacted the law firm and explained I have not lived in Maryland for 3 years and would like to see all documentation associated with the suit. The sent that to me but then filed a motion to strike service. When I look at the case file on the court clerk's website, the last entry reads "Type: TRIAL DELETEComplaint No.:
Date: 11/20/2009Comment:TRIL;12112009;0115P;02;BY CLK;SERVICE STRICKEN " When a firm says "we have stricken service in this case", what does that mean?

It means that the court now recognizes that you have not been served.

If service is stricken, you don't have to file an answer. However, the company may attempt to file suit and serve you in Hawaii.
