Statute of limitations on credit card debt
Can a collection agency attempt to collect an unpaid credit card debt after 18 years on a person with current perfect credit?
Re: Statute of limitations on credit card debt
I believe that the statute of limitations does not apply to attempts to collect the debt. It applies to the ABILITY to collect the debt in a legal proceeding. They can attempt, but they will not be successful (unless there has been a payment or acknowledgement of some kind without the past three years), so long as the debtor defends on that basis.

No, they can not collect it, or report it on your credit report.
