Don't ever admit to anything and CERTAINLY don't talk any one any more without an attorney! Theft Over $1000 is a felony and there is no statute of limitations, therefore charges could be filed at any time. The BEST thing you can do immediately is get the $1300 to pay back ASAP and hire an attorney to know when is the best time to pay it back.
