Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
Is there something wrong here?
Last year I was accused of a restraining order violation. The restraining order itself was issued without my knowledge of its content, and was a pack of lies, but because I live 50 miles away from my accuser, (who is bipolar), and did not go in that area, I did not give it much thought. But just a phone call to the police with a bizarre accusation stating I was going through a mailbox, and a warrant was issued for my arrest. I have no criminal record, I wasn't worried about the accusations, as I had proof I was somewhere else at the time of the accusation. To my surprise, when I went into court with proof (2 people to vouch for me, and an ironclad paper trail), even before I had a chance to speak, the judge SLAMMED his fist on the bench and screamed ''THIS HAS GOT TO STOP''. He would not allow me to defend myself, had already pre-determined I was guilty, and wanted me locked up. Amazingly, my accusers attorney stood up to defend me,it was insanity. Eventually the charge dropped (with a different judge).2 questions. 1. Is it normal to issue an arrest warrant based solely on an accusation? (I thought you needed a little more than that.) 2.Was that judge wrong in his conduct?

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
Which court? Who was the judge?
Is there something wrong here?
It is hard to convince people that they should not go to court without a lawyer. This is the reason why.
