Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

child support calculator?

I am a divorced mother of two. We have joint custody but the children live with me. I recently remarried and am now a stay at home mom. Does my new husbands income figure into the amount of child supprt that my ex-husband has to pay?

Re: child support calculator?

Your new husband's income does not have anything to do with the child support your ex-husband pays. Since you are no longer working, however, the income you used to have, which you have voluntarily given up to be a "stay at home mom," will probably still be used in calculating child support. When a parent voluntarily chooses not to work for pay, the income that parent is capable of earning is attributed to the parent for determining child support.
