Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Child support headache!

the NCP in my case was found in contempt for not paying support in Sept 04. They paid the purge and was release about a week later. A money judgment was entered and NCP signed a personal agreement to make payments of $300 a month, which of course had paid nothing. After c.S. accumluating for additonal 2 months, my spouse adopted child and NCP has never filed antything in court stating so. Regardless, NCP has never paid anything on judgment and has arrearage for those other 2 months, I have not counted any since adoption. Does the original court order stand until full payment is made? NCP refuses to get a job and admits it. I have court date coming up? Can they be found in contempt on money they owe and court acknowledged contempt judgment? Adoption doesn't mean they can get away with not paying the arrears does it? Are they still under orig. court order? Will they make the $300 agreement a court order or leave original order like it is. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Child support headache!

The adoption terminated his future support obligations but not the arrearages. The outstanding court order and judgment still apply.
