Emansipation

Can i get Emansipated when i dont want to live with my mother & she wants me to stay at her house when i want to live with my father and step mom?

If you are 16 you can choose to live with either parent, but you won't become emancipated until you turn 18, unless you become self-supporting before then or marry.

The court would listen to you and likley allow you to live with your father. A few questions to address in order for you to decide how to proceed is: Whether there is a current Order of custody in place? If not, then you can go live with your father as long as your father agrees. Second, if there is an Order for Custody that granted your mother custody of you is your father willing to file for a Petition to Modify Custody? If so, the judges in Maryland almost always will allow a child who is 16 to live with the parent of their choice as long as their reason for wanting to do so is valid.
