Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

The mother of my children is refusing to allow me to see the children out of the blue. I pay support directly to her (I keep receipts) and we have no formal visitation agreement. Can she do that just refuse to let me see them at all?

You will have to file a court petition seeking visitation and possibly joint legal custody if you want that as well. Unless there has been some problems arising from your exercising visitation which are harmful to the children, a court will support your efforts. Be aware that in response the mother may file a counterpetition for a child support order and if the amount of child support you are paying is less than the amount called for in the Maryland child support guidelines, you may end up with a higher amount. I suggest you consult with a family law attorney who can give you specifics on this, but you will need to know what the mother's income is if any, plus any amounts she pays for day care.
