Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Perjury - Lying Under Oath

During a hearing for Custody and Child Support my ex wife knowingly testified falsely and I have proof she was knowingly lying under oath. In fact my attorney caught her in a huge lie during the hearing. I believe her testimony had a major impact on the outcome of the hearing and I was wondering how could I have the case investigated for perjury or file a complaint of perjury in Rockville Maryland.

Re: Perjury - Lying Under Oath

You can go the state's attorney's office in your county and see if they will investigate and prosecute. You didn't specifically say, but from the tenor of your question it sounds like you feel her lie affected the outcome adversely to you, which is inconsistent with your statement that your attorney exposed the lie in court. If it was such a clear lie, you should have easily prevailed in the hearing. If the lie was so clearly exposed, sometimes the judge himself or herself will refer the matter to the state's attorney.
