Re: step mom rights

Normally a step parent can pick up children for visitation, unless the court order says otherwise, but too often the custodial parent makes rules which are unreasonable and which have not been part of a court order. Unfortunately it is too often necessary to return to court just to resolve issues which should never have been issues. Most likely the children's mother is angry at you, or angry at her former husband, and is being spiteful. If your husband can pick the children up, he probably should do so if he doesn't want to go back to court about the issue. There could be some valid reasons for the former wife to insist that you not pick them up. You could have a terrible driving record. You could be an interfering and trouble-making woman who disrupts her home when you arrive for the children. But most likely she just doesn't like you, and that is not a very good reason.
