Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

Probation

Im currently in the process of submitting forms for a Civil case against my ex-boyfrien, who I lived with over a credit card bill estimated close to $3,000.00 about 2 years ago he was accused to stealing about 30,000.00 but only received probation and community service for paying back the full amount.... I was curious to see if I submit this claim if its against his probation? And what could happen if he doesn't follow through.

If part of your boyfriend's sentence required him to make restitution to you, you should contact his probation officer and ask the p.o. to get involved. The p.o. can file papers seeking to revoke his probation. That might induce him to comply.

If that wasn't part of his sentence, you'll have to file a civil suit in the small claims branch of District Court. If you get a judgment, to collect you'll have to attach a bank account or garnish his paycheck if he gets one.
