Legal Question in Immigration Law in Maryland

Visa Waiver Pilot Program

I am here under the VWPP. I would like to extend my stay here past the allotted 90 days. I understand that I can apply for an extension. It would be my first time applying and I haven't been here for a long time and assume that it would most likely be granted. Exactly what form do I need to fill out in order to apply for this extension and how long would the extension be for? Also, if I wanted to get a Visa to stay, can I apply for that AND remain in the US while I am on the VWPP? Thank you very much.

Re: Visa Waiver Pilot Program

You cannot apply for any extension or change of status under the visa waiver program. You would not be allowed to remain in the US in any legal status if you decided to pursue permanent residency. If you wanted to pursue a nonimmigrant visa, you could not stay here legally beyond the 90 days & would have to pick up the visa abroad.
