Got a pay check with extra amount due to employer error.
Hi:
My last employer was a company in Maryland. I was a contractor through that employer to work for another company's (headquater in Maryland as well) branch in Tennessee.
January 1998 was my last day with the previous employer. They cut me a check with an extra $1250 or so. Recently they mailed me a letter stating that the extra amount was a mistake due to payroll computer error and demand repayment.
What's my legal resposibilities and options?
