Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland

I was put on unpaid administrative leave from my employer. the reason i was given was i have 2 pending court cases and must be found not guilty on both before i can return to work. i was recently in the hospital and failed to appear for my court cases thus resulting in a bench warrant even though i provided medical documents to the court. i was picked up at work on both warrants and processed with a $5,000 bail for case 1, and released on recog for case #2. i have no priors and my court cases are 2 months away. can my employer do this since i have not been found guilty of any crime?

Unless you work for a government agency, the answer is YES, they can put you on administrative leave. If I owned a private company and the police showed up to issue a warrant (REGARDLESS OF THE REASON), I would fire that employee immediately. That's not what I need at my place of business.

Good luck.******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*******
