Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland

unused vacation at time of resignation

I work at a small therapy office. I am salaried and entitled to 3 weeks paid vacation per year. I have recently given my intent to leave for another job. I currently have 8 unused leave days. Am I entitled to either be paid for those unused days or take those days as paid leave and shorten my notice of resignation time.

The employer has signaled that they may try and deny me leave days, they are short handed, or deny me the leave as pay.

Re: unused vacation at time of resignation

Under the Wage Payment and Collection Act, an employee is entitled to what is bargained for at the beginning of his or her employment. If you bargained for accrued vacation, you are entitled to receive it.
