Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland

I live in Maryland and had a contractual agreement with a person who is the president of a company in NY. I invested $15,000 and my fiance at the time was to invest another $5000 per the contract with a fourty percent interest to be made. The other party never paid the company his $5000, making the contract in breach. I have attempted several times to retrieve my portion of the monies invested with repeated failure. I even offered to reduce the amount givent the breach of contract. this person has assured me time and time again I would recieve my money back but has never attempted to do so. I sent a demand for payment since she has kept my money for over a year now and have recieved no response. Since the initial transaction took place in Maryland via her source, can I sue her here in Maryland or do I have to travel to NY to file suit?

It depends on the terms of the contract. It also may depend on how much business the NY company does in MD as to whether you can sue there. Hire a Maryland commercial litigator.
