rental letters

I live in a rental property and i have been late 3 times on the rent due to family illnes. I need a letter from my lanlord stating that my rent is current and how long i have lived on the propery . this management company is very difficult from the local office. Is it against the law for the manager to give me this letter and what is a good recource?

Unless I'm misunderstanding, there is nothing that would be illegal about your landlord giving you a letter saying that your rent is currently paid to-date (if that is true)and indicating how long you've been living on the property. However, I'm not certain what you can do if your landlord refuses to give you such a letter. Perhaps I'm missing some facts -- please give me a call if you like and I'll be happy to chat for a minute or two with you.
