Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

settlement dates

When my agent came over with the contract on my house I signed everything and certian things were written in on the night of the signing which I had to initial everything. We spoke about a settlement date but he wrote it somewhere but not on the contract. We agreed upon that date but I never signed off on it anywhere on the contract. When a copy of the contract was mailed to me with a settlement date typed in, a date that we never spoke about. I never signed the contract for that date. Is it legal to type in a date that I never agreed upon?
