Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maryland

Contesting a Will

My father died 12 years ago, and his parents, my grandparents are very well off financially. There has been talk in the family that I will not receive my father's 1/6 of their estate (they had six children), in fact I was told I would get nothing from their estate. Can I legally contest their will? Do I have any rights as far as being my father's legal heir in this matter. We're talking about a very large sum of money. I know through reading other wills, that if a child is deceased before a parent, usually the decedent's children are left his/her portion of the estate, but is that law or just tradition? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response.

You have actually posed several questions, and each one deserves to be analyzed separately, and carefully. More information is needed from you, but I may be able to investigate these matters for you, if you are interested in retaining me for that purpose.
