Legal Question in Workers Comp in Maryland

Did not pay full amount due to me

I was a purchasing agent for Sheraton hotels. I had asked repeatadly to buy me a back brace for the heavy lifting I had to do. They never did until I had to go buy it myself, and be re-imbursed for it. Well I hurt my back about 2 years ago at this job and they ( workmans comp) only covered the original visit to the doctor. No meds or pysical therapy. Now 2 years later I am having severe back problems. Is there any leagal matter I can do to Get compensation either from The Sheraton or from Workmans Comp?

The reason your employer refused to provide you with workers' comp benefits is that they don't consider this to be the type of injury that is covered under the workers' comp law in Maryland.

In order for an injured employee to be covered for workers' comp, the injury must occur from an accidental or unexpected event. For example, if you slipped on some ice or had a car accident while on the job. If you were performing the regular duties of your job when you suffered the back strain, generally that's not considered to be a covered injury. On the other hand, if you were asked to lift an unusually heavy amount on a particular day and suffered an injury from that, you would be covered.

If you're unable to work at all, you might be eligible for social security disability.
