Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Massachusetts

defaulted - wage garnishes

I moved to a new address about a year ago and found out last month that I get defaulted for not presenting to court. The court paper was sent to my former address, and I never got it.

As a result, another court under my job juridiction took action to garnish my wages for a debt that is in dispute based on the default.

I feel that justice was done.

What can I do?

Why the wage garnishment court summons for the wage garnishment was certified (which proves I received it) and the first was not?

Was the first one was done intentionally and carelessly

(regular mail)with no guarentee

so I get defaulted and the plaintiff can win?

Re: defaulted - wage garnishes

You may be able to bring a motion to remove the default and perhaps vacate the judgment. Courts will do this for good cause and if not too much time has passed. Which courts are involved and what is the amount of the judgment?
