Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Massachusetts

car ownership issue

My parents bought me a vehicle, as a gift, and had decided to place my mother's name on the registration and the title.after moving out of my home while i still had my car being repaired from a prior accident, my mother has decided to not give me the car back. I was listed on my car insurance as the ''lone sole'' driver as is, and in legalities, didn't think that when you give somebody a gift, you can rightfully take it back.Do i have any chance of winning a civil suit under these guidelines i've mentioned, or are there any other ways to go about reposessing my vehicle back?

Re: car ownership issue

In reality, your mother owns the car.

If she had given you the car, one would expect the car to be title and registered in your name.

You are correct that a gift, properly made, may not generally be revoked. However, your mother never actually 'gave' you the car in any legal sense.
