Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Massachusetts

First amendment question

Hypothetical: the state of Massachusetts would run into trouble if it tried to prevent us from speaking. But what about when the state is trying to make us listen to something? Would forcing employers to hold seminars on gay rights in the work place violate the first amendment rights of an employee expected to attend the seminar?
