Generally, the lien will remain on your home until the debt is paid in full. You should make sure that when you are making the final payment the creditor is providing a letter stating the debt has been paid in full and you should make sure the creditor files a document with the Registry of Deeds to remove the lien. In the event you try to sell the property, you will need documentation to show the amount has been paid in the event the creditor does not remove the lien.
