Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

I had unpaid tuition at a state college in MA, the state seized my tax returns for it this year. The debt is 13 years old. Isn't that past the statute of limitations for debt collection?

It may be past the collectible statute of limitations.

However, student loan debt is sometimes treated differently from traditional "consumer debt". You may want to take your paperwork to an attorney to see what can be done. Our office assists clients throughout the Commonwealth in debt collection matters, and may be able to assist you in either avoiding or settling this debt.
