Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Expungement after dismissal?

I recently had a larceny case against me dismissed in the pre-trial stage. My lawyer said the next thing to do is expungement of the records, as I am a substitute teacher pursuing a permanent position.

How would that process work? What is the usual expense? Until then, if a teaching background check is done how would this case appear?

Re: Expungement after dismissal?

You would bring a motion to expunge or seal your record. It would be best to discuss with your attorney and your probation officer to clarify the effect of the sealed record. Good Luck!
