Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

larceny of $120 against elderly

i work on an ambulance and battling a gambling problem. i took $120 from an elderly patient while treating. i dont have any criminal history and never done this before. i was released on $300 bail, and admitted to it, after i went to the patients house to apologize & give back some of the money. i want couseling and help. will i serve jail time? i lost my job the same day, and have a family to support. i have never been arrested before. i have also been in this field for 12 years and never had any problems. i admit my guilt and want to find out why i did this. any advice?

Odds are that without a record you are not going to jail. A decent plea could be worked out but I would suggest you retain an attorney to work out the best deal possible or to see if any statements were made against your rights and could be suppressed.
