Do you know what happened to the money?

If it escheated to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts contact the Abandonned Property Dept of the Secretrary of State's Office in MA. You can do that online.

Alternative is to check the probate court for the county in which he resided at the time of his death to see if an estate was ever opened for probate.

If you know the name of the Insurance company, you can write to them and ask about the proceeds from the policy.

If you know what person took possession of your father's assets at the time of his death, then you need to contact them.
