Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

I got pregnant last year by a guy i was briefly seeing, after i told him i was pregnant he wanted me to get an abortion and basicly said he wanted nothing to do with me or the baby, mainly becasue of his new GF, now the baby is 4 months old and i havent spoken to the father in over a year, theres no father listed on his birth certificate and im currently engaged to a wonderful man who went through the pregnancy with me and loves me son like his own, since the father hasnt been disclosed and didnt sign the birth certificate, can my fiance get any rights? adoption? can he sign the bith certificate voluntarily?

My suggestion would be to bring a petition for a co-parent adoption. This would terminate the biological father's rights and create a permanent and irrevocable parent-child relationship in your fiance. This process would also result in an amended birth certificate, with you and your fiance's names listed as parents. Ideally, the biological father would join in the adoption and give his consent. This makes the process 'uncontested' and much less complicated. I charge a flat fee for uncontested co-parent adoption petitions, and would be happy to discuss the process with you.
