Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
Rights of husbands ex-wife
Does my husbands ex-wife have the right to tell us who can and can not drive their kids? She states she will take my husband and I back to court because on occasion I drive with their daughters while my husband is with his son...Clearly, she doesn't want me behind the wheel of the car with her kids but does she have that right...when the kids are with my husband should he be allowed to make that decision? My driving record is impeccable---no tickets or accidents in 16 years. If she does have that right...do we also have the right to limit who she allows to take the kids?

Re: Rights of husbands ex-wife
It sounds like she is controlling. If what you say is true and she runs back to the court she won't get far.
The fact that you are their stepmother vs girlfriend would not be practible for the court, without good cause, to put an order in place that the children can not drive with you when there is visitation orders in place. Sincerely, Maria Murber
Rights of husband's ex-wife
Unless the ex-wife has a good legal reason to oppose who drives the car, I see little reason for the ex's upset. Clearly, she probably has others drive the daughters.
There must be another reason for the ex's attack.
The only problem is going to court is a pain. But if you and your husband can stand this attack, then let her go to court.
