Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Is a summons (dated 23 days ago) from my ex-husband requesting to terminate alimony due to his unemployment tucked into my front door a valid way to receive a summons "according to the Rules of the Court?"

Yes, service by leaving a copy of the documents and summons at service at a party's last and usual abode would be permitted. You should speak with an attorney immediately, as you will have only 20 days from the date of service to file an answer, together with any counterclaims or requests. Feel free to contact our office tomorrow if you would like us to speak about your situation with an attorney.
