Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

Do Not Resuscitate orders

Has anyone ever been sued for not respecting a patient's Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders? If so what was the basis of the lawsuit? Has wrongful life or battery ever been a component?

Thank you.

Re: Do Not Resuscitate orders

Yes, I do recall that there was just such a suit.

It's a strange concept, isn't it?

If you contact me directly, I'll try to look it up for

you ... but I'll want to know why you're asking first,

partly to help me focus on the right legal aspects of the

case and relaying to you what you really need.

Has such a thing already happened to a family member of

yours? Are you a relevant party, or thinking of suing

a relevant party such as a doctor or a hospital or a

proxy holder?
