Legal Question in Immigration Law in Massachusetts

My current fiance was once my sister's husband. He got his green card and naturalization from my u.s. born sister. They have amicably divorced about 4 years ago. I am not a u.s citizen but would like to get married to my ex brother in law. We have a child together and own a home together. Should I be concerned when I apply for a green card. Will this cause trouble for any of us?
