You may not remain outside the United States for more than 180 consecutive days without a reentry permit if you are a legal permanent resident (irrespective of whether you are married to a US Citizen or not).If you remain outside of the US for more than one year without obtaining a reentry permit, you may be found to have abandoned your permanent resident status. However, in determining whether your status has been abandoned, any length of absence from the US may be considered, even if it is less than one year. If you have any further questions or need any other assistance in trying to obtain a reentry permit, do not hesitate to contact us.
