Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

Please help!

Hi there.. I am hoping someone can help me. My mother was working at a breakfast place for about a month, when there was a break in. The police came and checked it out and questioned employees, but never charged anyone. Two days later, the boss caller her and said ''He wouldnt be needing her anymore, Things arent working out''. So, she filed for unemployment. He is now refusing the claim saying ''He believed she stole the money'' He also called the town police and told them to question her again. This all comes down to him not wanting her to collect unemployment, so he doesn't have to pay more insurance. He is a total asshole/liar. We are thinking of sueing for slander/defamation/emotional distress. She is still out of work and hasnt been able to collect a penny. Can someone help me- Do you think we have a case? If we dont sue, what can we do to to get her her unemployment pay? Please help! Thank you so much.

Re: Please help!

If she has not done so, she needs to appeal the unemployment decision. There is only a short time to do so. It may be possible to file for slander, as well. Please have her contact me to discuss this matter.
