Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts

eviction

a younger brother was living with his parents for over 10 years in norwood, mass........no rent was paid..he was just living there rent free. (giving money for food each month average 130 per month)

older brother bought the house from his parents, he has notified the younger brother to move out. he has given him a 30 day notice.......or he will change the lock. younger brother is looking for a place, but is sure that he will not be able to move out at the specified time.

can the older brother lock his younger brother out just like that (by changing the locks), wouldn't the older brother would now have to legally evict his younger brother,(take him to court for eviction) or does the older brother have a right to just lock his younger brother out.

thanks for your help

Re: eviction

Your Brother has to evict you he can not simply change the locks.

However, you will probably have to pay reasonable rent to stay.
