Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

attorney's lien

hello,

I am an attorney, licensed to practice law in Massachusetts. I handled a personal injury case and withdrew with successor counsel. I noticed a lien and receipt is acknowledged. Successor counsel does not want to honor any of my fees and now demand my appearance for a deposition. To the best of my knowledge, no suit has been filed. Can successor depose me without filing suit in challenge against my fees?

please advise.

thank you.

Re: attorney's lien

If nothing else, call me.

A deposition must be related to the cause of action. That you filed a lien does not make you deposable.

If there is a document attachment, then you can tell the purose of the deposition.

The best I would suggest without knowing more, is to seek a protective order, and seek costs and fees.
