Co-Tenants

I am a co-tenant...if I have to go into a nursing home....can the nursing home take my half of the house?

To the extent that you have a joint ownership, you risk exposure. You should consult ASAP an estate planning attorney.

If you are a co-tenant, there could be exposure to Medicaid or the nursing home for their fees. If that is the case they may not only lien the home but they could force its sale.

You should contact an elder law and estate planning attorney, this problem can be addressed, especially if you are presently in reasonably good health.
