property assessment

Do town assessors have the legal

right here in Ma. to enter your home

to do a property reassessment?My town sent a letter out stating they

would be coming around to enter your home for a reassessment.

Yes they do. You can ask that they come at a specific time to do the inspection.

Periodically they want to confirm that their records are correct as to the number of rooms, type of construction, condition of the property. It all relates to the assessment.

They do not take into consideration decoration but size and general condition and type of construction.

You do not have to let them in; they will assess the property based on their existing knowledge and walk around.
