Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

My ex husband would like to remove his name from the deed of our house. How do I go about that? I called the registry of deeds in the city I live in and they said to get a copy of the current deed and go see a lawyer. But what happens then and what can I expect to spend on lawyer fees.

If your husband is on the deed only, our office charges a small flat-fee to prepare a new deed transferring the home to you and he together to you individually. If your husband is on the deed AND the mortgage, you will need to refinance the property in order to remove him. We can also help you with the refinance process and close your loan for you at our offices.
