No there isn't. But often times the Mortgage Company will send the mortgage satisfaction to the attorney that paid off the mortgage. It is then the attorney's responsibility to record the mortgage satisfaction at the Registry of Deeds. After the mortgage satisfaction is recorded, the Registry of Deeds will return the original recorded satisfaction to who ever is written on the mortgage satisfaction under "Return to: ______" . A lot of times the mortgage company wants the recorded satisfaction returned to them.

If you want a copy of the recorded mortgage satisfaction, you can get one at the Registry of Deeds in the county where your property is located.
