Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Mexico

How do I cancel a timeshare/vacation interest contract

While on vacation last June, 2005, my partner & I were pressured into

purchasing a vacation interest/timeshare in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I wish to

cancel my contract with the company Playa Del Sol PV. The contract is for 1

week, bi-ennial use of a Studio (total cost =$6210.00, not including

maintenance fees). The timeshare payments have been kept current to April

2006. I do not expect a refund of any funds that have been paid to date and

Playa del Sol can regain ownership of the contract and resell. But I do not

wish to participate in their program or be financially obligated in the future.

How do I go about a cancellation? What are my rights? If I can no longer make

payments and forfeit what action can I expect and can my U.S. credit be

affected? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Re: How do I cancel a timeshare/vacation interest contract

I would have to see the contract to know what your rights are, if any, to cancel. Of course, the contract is probably interpreted under Mexican law, and that fact may also limit the availability of any remedies against you in the U.S.

Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this further.
