Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan

I am about to file a case against a former employer. I was not a direct employee, but rather an independant contractor. I live in michigan the employer lives/works in Ohio, and all of the work completed was in michigan. My last invoice was not paid and I am looking to sue for payment. My funds are limited and I would like to have the case heard here in michigan but the contract states any action shall be under the courts of the county in Ohio where he resides. Bottom line I am looking for case law that will let me fight this case here on my own turf. I cannot afford to hire an attorney, but I also do not know how to research this. I would be happy to pay someone for the research I just can afford full representation.

The contract states the venue is Ohio, that is final. You are best off filing the suit there, maybe by mail, and hope there are not alot of trips involved. Good luck. www.kliszlaw.com. Tim Klisz
