what do i do

my boss claimed i was self employed when i am not. it is interfering with my ability to collect unemployment. and is interfering with my tax returns. what do i do

If he gave you a 1099 instead of a W-2, probably not much i.e. he didn't make any withholdings on your pay and paid you tax free (which means you're responsible to pay the taxes). So, you were on notice that he considered you as an independent contractor.

He may get in trouble with the IRS if he treated you like an employee, but the tax has to be paid - mostly by you.
