Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan

Dog Bite

HI, I live in the State of Michigan and about 5 days ago I was delivered a package by the postal carrier and she was petting my dog and my dog was abused prior to me getting him and I asked her to not pet him because when you pull away he will pull you closer by grabbing onto some piece of clothing. I recently recieved a letter from the post master saying that they were going to stop delivering packages immediately and are considering taking legal actions. What I don't understand is if she pet my dog and I asked her not to how is this my fault. Also, the letter states that the ''dog attack'' did not break skin but ripped the carrier's pants, which is not true because the lady was laughing about it. If postal carriers are so afraid of dogs and threaten like they do, why would she pet my dog? I don't know what to do, the post master won't be able to get back to me for a week and I am afraid they reported it the Humane Society and if I lose my dog over something she did, I will die. HELP!

Re: Dog Bite

This would probably be a good time to get in touch with an attorney that specializes in Animal Law. Mr. Klisz is right that you could wind up being ordered to put your dog down.

Re: Dog Bite

Be very careful. You can be charged with a crime if your dog bites someone and if they bite twice, Courts can order them put down. I would deal with this quickly. Visit www.kliszlaw.com to discuss. Tim Klisz
