Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan
Home remodeling
If I were to hire an unlicensed person to do repairs and remodels on parts of my home such as electrical, plumbing, etc., and that person were to injure himself while working on my house, could I be held liable for hospital bills, debts incurred through disability, etc.?
If so, what statutes might cover this?

Re: Home remodeling
It is possible that your insurance and if none, then you personally could be held responsible. Furthermore, by law a person must be licensed to remodel your home.
You could talk with the contractor and enter a written agreement that he will not sue you or your insurance for injuries he sustains which are not the result of your actions or inactions in maintaining the dwelling.
