Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

How would I get free legal aid for a lawsiut?

I have been divorced for a year now and there is a pending issue with debt for a truck that was in my name as well as my ex-husbands name. It was written in the divorce papers the he would take over all expences having to do with the truck. The truck loan is in default, and has been sold in auction. I am now being held responsible for the remaining balance of $8,615.45. Even though I was the primary truck owner I never had posession of this truck. He agreed during the divorce to take resposibility for the truck, and hasn't. I want to take him to court for this matter. I don't have extra money to pay for an attorney, which concerns me seeing as though we are at the begining of legal action being taken against me.

You can't afford not to have an attorney. You can look in the phone book for a legal aid clinic or call a local law school to see if you qualify for reduced or free legal assistance.
