Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

Student Loans

I have a question about loans. About two years ago now, I was attempting to go to college through American Intercontinental University. I was told through several of their counselor's that they had an associates degree program for education, and after I agreed to go through their program and went through the financial aid program I noticed a few things. First my program wasn't what I had signed up for, they were sending me things for business courses, and I found out after the fact that they didn't have the programmed I'd signed up for, only a bachelor's program. Secondly I noticed that the amount of the loan they took out seemed rather high. They mentioned having to take additional, but neglected to tell me how much. As it stands right now I have an unpaid principal of $13,146.30 which is after I had payments reduced to help reduce my debt. Is there any way to pursue legal action against them for not providing the services they told me they had, and to get rid of this debt that is destroying my credit, and would it be worth the time it would take?

Re: Student Loans

You would need to hire a lawyer to look at the contracts and policies with the school, the program it offered, and your student loans. The student loans are through a financial institution and are not related to your school. Your cause of action, if any, is likely against the school for misrepresentation or breach.
