Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Can he do this?

My ex bought me a video camera 2 Christmases ago and told me to go ahead and claim his portion of the day care last year on my tax returns, now that we have split we came to an agreement that I would keep Friend of the Court out of our affairs (I don't need child support and he can't afford his house having to pay), as long as he paid every other week day care. Now he hasn't been able to pay this week and when I told him I was going to FOC, he threatened to send me to jail for ''stealing'' the camera (because he has the ID number) and for ''taking'' his half of the return for daycare... Is it possible for him to do this or is he blowing smoke?

Re: Can he do this?

You ex cannot send you to jail. Only judges can do that. However, you husband or a prosecuting attorney would have to show that you broke the law in order to send you to jail. The lesson that should learn is to not try to make your own legal agreeents without involving an attorney. You aren't qualified to practice law. Hire an experienced and aggressive attorney to get involved in fixing your problem.

This is not a criminal matter - merely bad behavior. Assuming you are both adults, you may wish to act the part.
