Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Hello. My name is Chad ([email protected]). I am doing some research for a friend. He was arrested in Muskegon for joy riding. To date he has not been provided a copy of the police report. His court appointed attorney said this is normal procedure these days. Last I knew such information is attributed to notice requirements. Is this correct? If so, would you please provide any MCL cites and or case law supporting the right to receive a copy of the police report as hin next appearance in circuit court is this friday? Thank you for your time nd consideration in this matter.

Because of budget cutbacks and layoffs, police reports are seldom available until pretrial or exam and sometimes not even then - although I've never heard of no information available on a felony charge before a bind-over to circuit court.

If his lawyer waived his exam without reviewing the police report something went seriously wrong.
